1940 - “Indian Summer”
This piece was started in 1989 when I had short lived studio on Magazine Street. From there I moved over to Ken Devine’s kitchen on Fig Street on the edge of Gert Town. The track was made with Carol and Amasa . I had a Casio synth guitar back then and made some string mush. Cornell Williams, one of New Orleans finest bass players and singers, is also a great whistler. This is dedicated to Anita Softness, Ken’s wife who was in med school during this time and put up with coming home to find me mixing in her kitchen. She’s Dr. Softness now. 1989-92

From the chord that rings out solemnly during the opening "One per Customer" through the hypnotic distortion of the finale "Black Hole," this is full of heart. Melodic, mature, and evocative. Joe de Larios
